Doggy Rain Dance

Today I was having one of those days. You know the days when you just slouch around, are attached to technological devices, eat and just feel blahhh?? Yeah well that was me today. I felt like everytime I checked my Instagram, Facebook or whatever other addictive social media sites there are that I was wasting minutes of my life. Dramatic I know.

I am one of those people who hate wasting days. You know when someone asks
"So what did you do today?"
And you reply with
"Uhhh, nothing"
Yeah well that's where my day was headed today, into the never land of nothing. I mean don't get me wrong my bed and I have the strongest relationship out. But my quest was set, I had to get up. So I did.

It was raining outside and instead of curling up with a hot chocolate and watching a movie i simply walked outside fully clothed.

Then I danced in the rain with my dog.

To my surprise it was the funniest, greatest thing I could have done and my dog thoroughly enjoyed himself too.

Hahaha well I guess this was a kind of pointless post but maybe one day you too will have the urge to dance in the rain with your dog or maybe even your cat (hmm good luck with the cat). Bahahaha :)

Dare Day.

Dare Day. The name explains it all really, a day consisting of nothing but dares. When I was younger I always loved truth or dare. Then when I was older I saw the One Tree Hill and Janoskians do a dare day and night and I couldn't wait to try one out.

So today was the day, I was finally doing it, our dare day consisted of four girls including me, which was split into two pairs. We held it at a local shopping centre and started at the same place. We were handed a list of twelve dares, the rules were on the list and the first team back to the certain spot would reign champions.

The dares ranged from 'I am not doing this' to 'that's easy' on the dare-o-meter, the day consisted of many long belly laughs for all competitors and most probably left some very dazed and confused shoppers/shop staff who ended up just laughing in the end.

Overall it was a fun filled, hilarious yet sometimes embarrassing day. It's heaps of fun and I was thinking it would even be an awesome Idea for a birthday! Well my childhood dream of a dare day has been granted and fully fulfilled!

Now what's next...

I dare you.

"Only in spontaneity can we be who we truly are."
Spontaneity. What does that word even mean? To be spontaneous for some people might mean ordering a different type of coffee on their way to work while others may consider skydiving or bungee jumping an act of spontaneity. To be spontaneous is to be courageous and I may not be the most adventurous, dare devilish person in the world but I love the feeling that being spontaneous brings.
The movies make it look oh so easy! Asking that one special person out to dinner for the first time or going on a worldwide holiday just happens like magic on the big screen. Get real! To be spontaneous you have to be your true self and I completely agree with that, I have known people that were so comfortable with who they are and what they do that they live a life of spontaneity and steer their lives in the direction they want to go. Wouldn't that be absolutely wonderful! It can be done! I think we all need to remind ourselves everyday (from the mouth of the wise Dr Seuss) that you must always be yourself because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.   I know some people think this is never going to happen and it is hard work to be the true you, but to do something completely out of the ordinary, completely insane for just one moment is THE most incredible feeling.
Being spontaneous has had the most amazing results for me but of course there are times when due to doubt, fear and that negative little voice inside my head I have missed out on some of the greatest opportunities life has thrown my way. So this year 'be spontaneous' is my New Year’s resolution and I plan to start living every second of this wonderful gift of life.
So next time you search the movies playing at the local cinema and can't decide between the two? Pick both. If you walk past a bunch of wild flowers, put a few on a random doorstep. When you glance longingly up at that poster of Greece scrawled across your wall. Book some flights. I know its easier said than done but if you have the chance to do something fantastic and spontaneous and that feeling of fear or doubt is keeping you from it. Find that adventurous part of you and do it. Just once. It may take months, years, gosh even decades! But if you find it inside yourself to be spontaneous, completely mad and out of the ordinary for just one moment, trust me, you'll love yourself for it and find a whole new side to you along the way.
So go on have dessert before dinner.
 I dare you.

Bliss in a bite.

Okay so this is one of the many simple, quick and easy recipes that I am in love with and cook all the time. So these little beauties are amazing for sleepovers, dinner partys, partys in general. Any event really. So its not some ancient family recipe that's been passed down since dinosaurs roamed the earth. Its an internet recipe. But don't be deterred, it's a keeper.
So the recipe is for Toffee Strawberries. Weird combination you may say, I think blissful match made in heaven. Once you've smacked your lips around one you'll realise that the sweet, crisp toffee cracks open to reveal the sweet yet tangy strawberry as the juice drizzles over your lips. Youn can't speak for a few moments as you catch yourself realising your not in heaven.
Well, okay maybe its not that AMAZING that you confuse heaven with reality and yes some people may not like the taste but i think they are absolutely fantabulous. Bliss in a bite! So............
Lets Cook!
Here is the Link to the recipe I use. Good Luck and have fun!!http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/20807/toffee+strawberries

More Cute, More Quirky

Today a friend and I went searching for some 1920's costumes bits and Bobs for a party were attending and stumbled across the two most adorable, quirky little shops. They contained hundreds of treasures, from old style milk bottles filled with body wash to amazing home decor. Then there was upstairs which was filled with retro tshirts, homemade candles and an abundance of other gems! I could've bought the entire shop! So if your ever on the Gold Coast in Queensland be sure to check out Urban Groove in James Street, Burleigh Heads. It's AMAZING!

James Street has to be one of my favourite places on the Coast!! Simply because once you've had a look there you can scoot across the road to try, in my opinion, the best fresh juices on the Gold Coast at the fruit and vege shop. They whisk fruit straight from their shop into the blender. Couldn't be anymore Perfect! Boutiques line the street and there are many delicous places to eat including Govindas an amazing vegetarian restaurant and the sushi bar. They are my two favourites! So I'll stop ranting now, but like i said if your ever on the Gold Coast, James Street in Burleigh Heads is a MUST!!

A Fresh Start - Welcome to The Box of Bits & Bobs

"The New Year is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Your the author so write a bestseller."

I know its a tad late but New Years is one of the greatest times of year. Its a time to relive every breathtaking moment of 2012 and to realise that we enjoyed our amazing  experiences and have learnt and grown from the not so amazing ones we came across.

This year is going to be extraordinary! I have seen so many motivated people already, so I know this year is going to be a year of motivation and discovering where and who we truly want to be. An abundance of new experiences and moments will come from that and I am ecstatic for 2013 to unfold and envelope me in its endless opportunities. For example, writing a blog had never even crossed my mind until my cousin told me about hers, Momentary Lapse of Reality. And that was all it took, the seed was planted and a whole new experience hit me. Now here I am and the addiction has begun. Welcome to my new blog.......(drum roll please) Introducing... The Box of Bits & Bobs.

About Bits&Bobs

The Box of Bits & Bobs - A treasure trove of everything. From cupcakes to motorbikes, travels to Dare Days, recipes to DIY room projects and whatever else in between. As I have only just started my blog it will take a while for it to become... well... you know..good I guess? Hahaha! Over time I hope that it will be a place for people to scroll, click, laugh and be interested and intrigued as they read all about my opinions, adventures, recipes, projects and parts of my day to day life. If i were to imagine this blog as a place it would be a quircky little cafe with trinkets scattered across shelves, the smell of fresh tea, cupcakes and  amazing gourmet, organic meals, awesome smelling candles, retro clothes and items, lanterns hung from the roof and a little bit of Queen, Mumford & Sons and ACDC playing in the background (Thats the little bit of unexpected me you'll get along the way). Anyways I am still not 100% sure on how all this jazz works just yet but whoever may stumble across this i wish you  a fantabulous day and  hope that you enjoy my blog :)
